About this site
Welcome aboard!
Peace Train Parents is the companion blog to Peace Train Kids, a preschool show built around one simple idea: peace is a skill, not just a feeling. Kids aren’t born knowing how to share, calm down, resolve a conflict, or treat someone different from them with respect — these are things we teach, the same way we teach colors and counting. This blog is where we unpack that teaching for the grown-ups.
What you’ll find here
Each post connects back to what’s happening on the show — the same lessons Nana Nomi, Judge Hazelnut, and the rest of the crew are teaching your kids, but written for the adults raising them. Expect:
• Episode breakdowns — the pacifist principle behind each episode, and why it was chosen
• Real-world tools — scripts and strategies for conflict, big feelings, and “that’s not fair!” moments at home
• Conversation starters — simple ways to talk with preschoolers about kindness, fairness, and nonviolence without it feeling like a lecture
• The thinking behind the train — where the show’s ideas come from, and how we try to make pacifism feel like common sense instead of a lofty ideal
Why “Peace Train”
Little kids are natural learners of everything they’re exposed to, including how to handle conflict. If we want a gentler world, the training starts early, and it starts with us. This blog exists so parents don’t have to figure that out alone — we’re all riding the same train.
Who’s driving
Peace Train Parents is written by the creator of Peace Train Kids, Jordan Kemp, a parent and pacifist trying to build the show they wished existed for their own kids — and figuring out the parenting side of it right alongside you.
All aboard.
